Oh, and the car ain’t bad either, we guess— Ferrari something.
Incredible! Seeing the Elan positively dwarfed by the Miata as they run side by side at Laguna Seca is nothing short of amazing. God, we want one— an Elan, that is (not to take anything away from the Miata).

And in case you missed it, read Royce’s MCB article here.
The Lost Coast is an area of Northern California left as largely unadulterated wilderness as a result of coastal Highway 1 being diverted inland due to the difficult terrain. The sparse population of ranchers and other agrarian folks who lived in the area were spared the traffic that the approximately 80 miles of highway would have brought. So it’s basically a tiny little general store there surrounded by the odd ranch or home, and is more or less wilderness with occasional cows.
Reader Mike sent this in:
Just took this pic yesterday in Sausalito, CA with the SF Bay in the background. I think I had a poster of this car (but in white) on my wall for like three years growing up. It’s an ’89 Countach 25th Anniversario. It was just purchased from British Motor Cars (which is the same ownership group as Cars Dawydiak, purveyors of some very tasty vintage and used Porsches and other European makes) here in San Francisco. I spoke briefly to the gentleman who had just bought it and he seemed pretty pleased with his decision! Makes me want to shave some lines in the side of my head and throw on some Run-DMC…
Thanks for sharing, Mike! We’ll supply the Run-DMC:

The solution? Buy old cars 🙂
The Rise of the Fake Engine Roar
To make engines sound better, some automakers are broadcasting motor noise through speaker in the cabin. Is this progress—or an affront to the purity of the engine note?
