Can you imagine shoehorning an aircooled flat-twelve into a shell smaller than a 914’s? Nuts.

When I met Derek Bell at the 917 display at Amelia Island this year it was pretty much the pinnacle of my love of the golden age of motorsports.
This is my favorite race car of all time – it’s got an undeniably wonderful body, comes in great liveries and was the fastest, most dangerous car of it’s day.

Unbelievable, I hadn’t seen this clip before.
I love this car like everyone that commented said, and it’s history is fascinating. Also the front fascia had a great ‘expression’ if that makes any sense to anyone else. It’s unbelievable to think that this and the 956, two very different eras in my mind, were separated by only about 10 years.
