Getting right to it.

The first generation BMW M Coupe is, hands down, one of our favorite cars of any era. Nate Stevens, a photographer in Indiana, recently spoke to us and shared some photos of his recently acquired example. We can only hope to someday own one this nice. Can anyone say ‘future classic’?
MCB: Why the M Coupe?
NS: It’s a car I’ve always been drawn to for some reason. It’s not a car that people are on the fence about; you either love it or you hate it. I just happen to be one of those with a soft spot for the ‘clown shoe’.
Sigh.. would still love to do this – or any West Coast vintage road rally, for that matter – someday.
It’s not our first time posting about the Targa; see the previous one here.
Would love to be able to understand what this says, even if it’s just BMW marketing-speak circa the late-1980s. If any of our German-speaking readers feels like offering a quick summary translation, feel free to leave it in the comments 😉
And because it’s as good a segue as any— “Fascination Street” by the Cure:

Not an obvious pairing, but in hindsight, if this car is going to be driven on any public road, Japan’s seems as fine a choice as any.
Amazing stuff.
Not something you see every day 🙂

From the ad copy:
With less than 60,000 kilometres from new this car has recently undergone a complete restoration including:

(The original V12 power-house is not available)
Custom-made Bilstein suspension all-round.
Complete front-to-back, top to bottom rewire.
Soundproofing inside and out.
And much, much more…
See the listing here (South African car listed on eBay Australia with two days remaining)

Is it true? Who knows. But there’s no denying it makes for a better story than a Chrysler LeBaron convertible once belonging to Jon Voight 🙂
From the ad copy:
Professor Stephen Hawking, a Fellow of my Cambridge College, spent one summer in the village where I lived. I used regularly to drive him in to work at the University at more than 100 mph with the hood down and his wheelchair on the back seat. There was only a seat belt for the driver….
Yours now for only £165,000!
