This was a pleasant surprise— a set of very nice, relatively organic images (for a manufacturer) of the Jaguar C-X16 from a downtown LA photoshoot, no doubt meant to dovetail with the 2011 LA Auto Show that happened a couple weeks ago.
The question is, what do folks think of the car? While not perfect (we would have liked to see a bit more restraint exercised in the styling), it’s unquestionably the most exciting thing Jaguar has done in recent memory— to say it evokes a baby Aston Martin, albeit edgier (for better or for worse), wouldn’t be far off the mark we think. Perhaps not what Jag was aiming for, but that’s certainly not a bad thing. And we absolutely love the side-hinged rear window opening— a superbly-executed homage to the E-Type.

Reader and MCB friend Nate sent in these shots of his E28 M5, newly acquired over the holiday. Congratulations, Nate! We hope you keep the pinstripes— we’re normally not huge fans, but the car pulls it off surprisingly well! Very cool.
You can track the car’s progress over at onerevatatime.blogspot.com.

As a kid I always enjoyed cars— in particular older cars. One of my favorites growing up was the car I grew up riding around in, the car I learned to drive on, and most recently, the car that would later become my own. That car is a 1977 E21 BMW 320i.

The Porsche connection we all know about, but has anyone else ever noticed this?

Yup, according to a poster on the Skippy Forums:
The story the instructors like to tell is that Seinfeld went through the schools and did a few races out in California. (It is true that he’s a past client. I believe he’s on the list they have on the website.) He crashed a few cars, and to make up for it, he gave Skippy massive free publicity by putting the logo sticker on the upper right corner of his fridge. It’s in every episode from the time he decided to do so. After all, it was his show, and stickers aren’t as easily removed by prop managers/set designers as magnets are…
Heh, pretty neat.
And here’s evidence of that aforementioned Porsche obsession:

Solid, Fiat, solid. Atoning for that Jennifer Lopez debacle, perhaps?
