Postscript to cars you’re waiting for to depreciate

Last week, we asked you to nominate new-ish cars you’re waiting for to depreciate (the B7 Audi RS4 was our own example), and here are some of the ones you chose.

BMW M3 (E90/E92):

Audi A5/S5:

Audi TT-RS:

Porsche 911 GT3 (996):

Pontiac G8 GXP:

Ford Mustang Boss 302:

Porsche Cayman S:

BMW 1-Series:

Cadillac CTS-V:

Subaru BRZ:

We approve this list. We wouldn’t kick any of these out of the garage, but we certainly wouldn’t mind three or four of them in particular 🙂

  1. Never posted before – but I can’t agree more with most of the cars listed here. I’m fortunate enough to have bought a C6 Corvette in my mid-20s, but it too was a “waiting for it to depreciate enough” purchase. I find myself searching Craigslist and ebay for an affordable G8 GXP every few weeks, and almost pulled the trigger on a high mileage example. But then my voice of reason kicks in, and says just wait a few more years until a CTS-V wagon can find its way home. Provided they keep depreciating, of course.

  2. So many awesome choices, so little available funds 😦

    • I don’t think there’s any reason to fret, Larry. Conversely, I think it’s a golden time to be an older car (where older means “not quite classic, but getting there”) buyer on a limited budget 🙂

      • I agree, Drew. The problem is, we’re like kids in a candy store. Completely unreasonable, but … “I want that!” “Oh, but I want that too!” “Wow, that one is even more awesome! I want it!” “OMG, I have to have this other one also!”

  3. All fairly decent choices but I’d prefer and Audi S7.

  4. You left off the AMG’s! They depreciate with best of them and are a sure way to get hand built German V8 goodness for cheap.
