We want one.

Try not to fixate too much on the soundtrack in this one, which is awful (in typical C/D fashion):

Addendum (added 12/23):

No, not as famous as that other film with numerous spectacular chases (with better cars) through narrow Parisian city streets- that one’s more obvious, so we’ll get to it later.

This one’s still pretty fun though.

Handheld reproduction of the scene, almost looks like faux cinéma vérité:

Unfortunately, it’s still “only” FWD, which, depending on your perspective, could be either a good (keeps cost and weight down) or a bad (AWD potentially more fun) thing. It doesn’t seem to matter to the automotive commentariat on either side of the pond, who like it just the same.

Of course, it’s all a moot point, anyway, because it’s not coming to the States.

Generally speaking, we like Mark Gillies of Car und Driver, but some of his claims about the X-Bow in the latest issue (it’s the nearest thing to a modern racing car that you can buy for the street… the X-Bow is probably the best-handling car we’ve driven in some time… perhaps ever…) has us wondering: has Mr. Gillies ever heard of the Ariel Atom, let alone driven one? At minimum, we know his colleagues have.

Let’s check out the tale of the tape.

We don’t recall ever seeing “the Green Hell” this lush and verdant. You can really see where it gets its namesake (part of it, anyway).

Many thanks to Kat Miner for the wonderful photos.
