Has to be one of the best winter driving videos we’ve ever seen…
…if not one of the best driving videos, period. This video is for all those folks who park their cars over the winter (or alternatively, don’t get snow where they live) — you don’t know what you’re missing. Driving through snow is a great feeling, which this short film captures perfectly— even if we’re not blessed with these kinds of roads where we live.
Yeah, I guess that was kinda cool.

Full cage + no helmet = great idea

Aww, come on…snow is soft, right?

Snow is soft, skulls are soft, roll cages are not 🙂

Here’s how you tell the real racers from the trackday bums (I fit in this latter category): Real racers have all sorts of scuffs on their helmets. I assure you, they didn’t get those while the helmet was in a padded bag.

Aye, my helmet looks as pristine as the day she arrived in the mail 🙂

Roll cages or otherwise, there’s plenty of hard surfaces for your skull to hit. From my experiences ice racing on frozen lakes in upstate NY years ago, I can confirm there’s still plenty of bouncing around, and what Jeremy Clarkson said is still true (paraphrasing): it’s still the stopping that’s the problem. While running into a snow bank tends to result in less (car) body damage than running into a tree, you are still stopping pretty quickly. A helmet is a must-have.

None as hard as exposed metal bars, however.
A helmet is a must-have.
I think that was precisely Andrea’s (the second commenter’s) point.

Levity aside, we are in agreement on that point. I was just adding that even if there’s no roll bar, you should still use a helmet.
