Gotta be honest, the CLK Black Series from four years ago looked a lot better

Maybe the newer version is the better car, but does it really matter if it doesn’t arouse feelings of lust the way the old one did (and to a large extent still does)?

Fun-looking track here (California guys, is that Horse Thief Mile at Willow Springs?).

Bonus video: Flüela Pass (between Davos and Stelvio) in the Swiss Alps— plus a couple of good Clarkson one-liners:

  1. I was thinking the exact same thing.

  2. CLK was just a better looking car to start with.

  3. I could be wrong but I think at least certain shots are on the big track at willow.

  4. Easily better looking. The Current one looks terrible with that fake areo mess on it. Honestly those parts are too small to really have an effect that balance the terrible looks.

  5. I was lucky enough to see one on the street in motion. It bounced around like a lowered Honda on cheap suspension, but it looked great. Much of the current Mercedes line-up is much maligned. Unless you start looking at the really expensive items: CL, Gullwing, maybe 1 or 2 others.

    • Also, what a good comparo between why Top Gear is so successful and everything else (especially on this side of the pond) is just so meh…

Stig chasing sheep vs slightly douchey guy in aviators.
