Cinematic cars: Lamborghini Jalpa in "Rocky IV" (1985)

A bit of a forgotten 1980s Lamborghini. And you know what? That’s too bad, since we’re really appreciating its relatively understated looks now that we’re older. It’s not as loud and flamboyant as the Countach, and quite frankly, it has probably aged better because of it.

Some quick stats on the Jalpa (pronounced “Hall-puh”):

  • Years built: 1981-88
  • Cars made: 410
  • Styling: Bertone
  • Weight: 1,510 kg / 3,329 lb
  • Weight distribution: 44 front / 56 rear
  • Engine: 3,485 cc V8
  • Horsepower: 255 at 7,000 rpm
  • Torque: 231 ft-lbs at 3,500 rpm
  • Top speed: 146 mph
  • 0 – 100 km/h: 6.0 sec
  • Quarter mile: 15.4 seconds at 92 mph
  • Price: $58,000

  1. hmm i like the Jalpa – but the Rocky tie-in? Dangerous ground my friend – dangerous ground.

Why not the old school SEL when Rocky trains in Russia at the end?

  2. I just posted a Jalpa the other day:

Thanks for making a post that allows me to shamelessly tie in a link to one of my newest sites!

  3. Dan, there are Lambos that can be had for less than that Jalpa. Admittedly not in such good shape. But what a tacky ride!! Unless you are Lil Kim, I wouldnt be caught dead in that white on white pimp-mobile.

  4. That white Jalpa looks perfect to cruise the PCH for a 80’s blonde with teased hair and shoulder pads!
