Good grief

This is why we love Volkswagen’s narrow-angle VR6 engine— and in the MkIV Golf R32, in particular (given that it doesn’t quite sound the same in, say, a Eurovan).

(Nevermind the tinted tails— not our thing.)

Is the R32 the fastest or flashiest car? No— but that’s not the point. It packs such an outsized growl for such an unassuming package, and therein (at least for us) lies part of its appeal. And of course, forced induction (should one choose to open one’s wallet) opens the door to all sorts of eye-popping performance gains. We’d love to have one.

One Response to “Good grief”

  1. Man, it’s been a while, but any time I hear an open-flapped R32 roll by… whew. I just have to take a breather on the side of the street.

I want one. I want one so bad. Next year could be the year.
