Cinematic cars: the IMSA Porsche 911 from "Good Guys Wear Black" (1978)

Hey, Chuck Norris is 70 today, according to various newswires. His political views may be lamentable, but his birthday gives us an excuse to run this on-track clip from 1978’s “Good Guys Wear Black.” So here it is, Chuck Norris (as John T. Booker) running at the erstwhile Riverside International Raceway.

  1. I’m going to give away my car nerd status but if you listen to the engine note from inside the car it is the exact same engine note of the 917’s in Steve McQueen’s Le Mans…you can tell by choppy sound editing

  2. well i would venture to say that anyone either putting this site together (that would be us) or visiting it regularly is a car nerd to some degree 🙂 but you may be onto something- one of the other commmenters also observed that the audio may have come from le mans

  3. Haha…I happened to skipped around to the middle and the sound doesn’t sync up with the gear changes and I know I’ve heard that noise from one of my favorite movies….it’s a Porsche but definitely not flat-6 – it sounds like the scene after the start of the race when they’re tearing down Mulsanne
