I’m loving this trend in automotive photography where the car is merely part of a set, rather than the subject. As if the photographer said, “oh, yeah, I took a beautiful photo of a gas station and there happen to be an amazing coupe filling up.”

agreed. straight-up eye candy is fine, too – i love it, and there’s nothing wrong with that – but strong compositions, regardless of how exotic or mundane the actual subject (cars, in this case), will always be more visually compelling to me. that’s what i’m most drawn to.
