Shout out to Mr. Penn

Irving Penn, one of the 20th century’s most prolific and influential photographers of fashion and the famous, whose signature blend of classical elegance and cool minimalism was recognizable to magazine readers and museumgoers worldwide, died Wednesday morning at his home in Manhattan. He was 92.” (Published in the NYT)

Although I’m a complete newbie when it comes to photography, I appreciate good work.  Apparently, Penn was a gangster when it came to taking portraits.  There are many contemporary photographers I wish to imitate, and while Penn may not be my contemporary, he’s work is worth studying.

May your work continue to inspire throughout the ages Mr. Penn…
