Another favorite of this blog, as longtime readers know. Regardless of how ‘up-market’ our wish list ever moves, we will never be too good for this car or for the MkI GTI. It may be an ‘entry-level’ classic, but its status (as a classic of any stripe) is firmly cemented.

  2. I third that.
    The Mk2 big bumper GTI (especially with 16v motor) is arguably the finest GTI ever.
